IPv6 Day
What is World IPv6 Day?
It’s an event sponsored and organised by the Internet Society and several large content providers (e.g. Google, Facebook) to create awareness and evaluate the real world status of IPv6 readiness and deployment.
When is IPv6 Day?
Various IPv6 sites will go live for public testing between
Schedule Start:
12:00 NZST 08/06/2011 (00:00 UTC 08/06/2011)
Scheduled Finish:
11:59 NZST 09/06/2011 (00:00 UTC 08/06/2011)
Please Note: These dates are more of a guideline and we are likely to conduct our testing activities within the NZ working day and to suit our client’s needs and will be doing preliminary testing in the preceding days and weeks.
How is TelstraClear participating?
TelstraClear will be participating by making our core websites IPv6 ready and conducting extensive testing with a number of our customers, specifically some of New Zealand’s most popular websites such as https://www.flybuys.co.nz/. This will allow anyone coming from an IPv6 source to view the content as IPv6 compliant. We will also be enabling IPv6 native browsing for a number of our nominated clients. This new IPv6 capability will shortly be incorporated into our advanced web services products delivered by our specialist security division DMZGlobal. For more information on the web hosting capability see DMZScreen and for secure IPv6 enabled browsing see DMZInternet.
How can I test IPv6 readiness on the day?
As the day is about being able to access and interact with IPv6-only sites, it is worth testing your access out by visiting some of them, a link to a comprehensive list is contained in the further information section. For TelstraClear sites we will add an address identifier confirming whether or not the person is coming from an IPv4 or IPv6 address as well as a validation icon which users can click on and link to the IPv6-test.com site for independent verification that the sites are IPv6 addressable.
