Voice Roaming
Roaming is available in over 215 destinations for voice and 90 for data, so you can work, or play, almost anywhere in the world.
You just need to call our Customer Care team on 0508 888 800 at least 7 days before you leave to have roaming set up*. Once roaming is activated, your phone will automatically pick up a compatible network as soon as you get off the plane, so you can make and receive calls and texts.

- Check the pricing for the countries you are going to
- Make sure you know your voicemail PIN number for when you call back to check voicemail
- Make sure you save your numbers in international format e.g. +64291234567
Data Roaming
Data Roaming Tips
Roaming data is incredibly convenient, but at 10c for each 10KB, it can be expensive. It's important to optimise your usage to avoid a shock when you see your bill. (For example, if your laptop conscientiously downloaded the latest 40MB Microsoft security update in the background without you realising, it could easily cost $400.) See below for some tips for using data while roaming.- Turn data roaming off when abroad to avoid substantial roaming charges when using email, MMS, web browsing and other data services
- Disable any auto (silent) updates in Windows or Anti-virus software
- Ensure your computer virus/spyware scanner is up to date - keep your computer healthy
- Optimise your email before you leave - you can restrict attachments, disable auto send & receive and disable auto-preview
- Block pop up windows if browsing the internet
- Avoid websites with heavy media content e.g. streaming video or audio
- Disconnect your data session when finished
- Use your handset for previewing all emails and your laptop to work on specific email
- Consider dedicated email devices such as BlackBerry
