InHome Connection Definitions

There are many variables when it comes to connecting to the TelstraClear cable network. Following is a set of standard technical definitions we use when arranging new installations. For further clarifications on specifics relating to a particular property, please phone us on 0508 66 22 77.

In addition, the installations/connections described below are to the main dwelling on the connectable property and not to any secondary dwelling (eg. sleepout or separate office) and assume that no additional electrical wiring within the house is required for the installation/connection. If any installation/connection is to a secondary dwelling or requires additional in-house electrical wiring (eg. wall fishing), or if you request a bury installation where overhead connection is possible, then you will be required to pay all costs for additional work associated with the installation/connection.

Network Connection Definition of Installation/connection
W 5 pair Pull-in The replacement of a 2 pair phone connection with a 5 pair phone connection for an existing buried installation where a customer requires a 3rd or subsequent phone line.
X Standard Bury A standard bury involves getting the TelstraClear network to the Network Termination Enclosure (NTE) at the customers house & the reinstatement of any pavements. The distance limit is 35 metres . Anything over 35 metres is an exception & the customer may incur excess install charges.
Y Standard Aerial Drop A standard aerial installation involves getting the TelstraClear network to the NTE at the customers house. The distance limit is 3 span. Anything over 3 span is an exception & the customer may incur excess installation charges.
Z Ped to Pole A ped to pole installation is sometimes required as part of an aerial drop and involves getting the TelstraClear network from a pedestal to the nearest pole in order to complete the aerial drop. The distance limit is 5 metres. Anything over 5 metres will not proceed.

Assumption for the following 9 customer connection types

It is assumed that a network connection (type X bury or type Y aerial drop) has already taken place so that the copper pair and Coax cable are both available at the Network Termination Enclosure at the side of your house.

Customer Connection Definition of Installation/connection
A Phone Only Includes 1 site visit, 1 phone connection from the NTE to 1 jack point (if needed) in the customers house, customer education, testing (phone) & clean-up. This installation applies to the connection of a 1st phone line or a subsequent phone line where a separate visit is required.
B Subsequent line (no separate visit) Does not include a site visit as the subsequent line is connected at the same time as the 1st (or other) line. Includes 1 phone connection from the NTE on a customers house to 1 jack point (if needed) in the customers house, customer education, testing (phone) & clean-up.
C Phone + Digital TV (same visit) Includes 1 site visit, 1 phone connection from the NTE at the customers house to 1 jack point (if needed) in the customers house & 1 cable connection from the NTE to 1 cable outlet in the customers house. Also includes tuning of the customers TV/VCR & Set Top Box (STB), STB hit, customer education, testing (phone/TV/VCR/STB) & clean-up.
D Digital TV only (where customer already has other TCL services) Includes 1 site visit, 1 cable connection from the NTE to 1 cable outlet in the customers house, tuning of the customers TV/VCR & Set Top Box (STB), STB hit, customer education, testing (TV/VCR/STB) & clean-up. This installation applies to the connection of a 1st or subsequent STB installation where a separate visit is required.
E Phone + Digital TV + High Speed Internet Modem (same visit) Includes 1 site visit, 1 phone connection from the NTE on the edge of the customers house to 1 jack point (if needed) in the customers house & 2 cable connections from the NTE to 2 cable outlets in the customers house. Also includes tuning of the customers TV/VCR & Set Top Box (STB), STB hit, customer education, testing (phone/TV/VCR/STB & PC/Cable Modem) & clean-up.
F High Speed Internet only Includes 1 site visit, 1 cable connection from the NTE to 1 cable outlet in the customers house plus the configuration of the customers PC (but NO install of an Ethernet card), customer education, testing (PC/Cable Modem) & clean-up.
G High Speed Internet + Digital TV (same visit) Includes 1 site visit, 2 cable connections from the NTE to 2 cable outlets in the customers house plus configuration of the customers PC (but NO install of an Ethernet card), tuning of customers TV/VCR & Set Top Box (STB) and STB hit. Also includes customer education, testing (TV/VCR/STB & PC/Cable Modem) & clean-up.
H Phone + High Speed Internet (same visit) Includes 1 site visit, 1 phone connection from the NTE on the edge of a customers house to 1 jack point (if needed) in the customers house & 1 cable connection from the NTE to 1 cable outlet in the customers house. Also includes configuration of the customers PC (but NO install of an Ethernet card) customer education, testing (phone/TV/VCR/PC/Cable Modem) & clean-up.
I Additional STB for Digital TV (no separate visit) Does not include a site visit as the additional Set Top Box (STB) is connected at the same time as the 1st (or other) STB. Includes 1 cable connection from the NTE to 1 cable outlet in the customers house. Also includes tuning of TV/VCR & STB, STB hit, customer education, testing (TV/VCR/STB)& clean-up.
Other
J Additional/Move Jack Point - On-site 1 x additional (or moving of an exsiting) Jack Point. Does not include a site visit.
K Additional/Move Jack Point - Separate Visit 1 x additional (or moving of an exsiting) Jack Point. Includes 1 site visit.
N Disconnect of Digital TV and/or High Speed Internet Includes 1 site visit & disconnect of your Digital TV or High Speed Internet service.
O Tune TV/VCR or Drop off CPE or Collect CPE Includes 1 site visit to either tune a customers TV/VCR (or similar) or drop off CPE or collect CPE.

Customer Connections
Please note that TelstraClear reserves the right not to install services to your household for any reason including when it is not economical to do so. TelstraClear may exercise this right at any time prior to installation.
