Global Roaming Toolkit - Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3), Windows Vista & Windows 7

Download and install

  1. Delete any existing iPass software form your computer using 'Add/Remove Programs'
  2. Click on the icon above to start downloading the iPassConnect Installer. A browser window may come up but it will soon disappear and be replaced bythe File download dialogue box.

  3. Click the Open button. The installation file will begin to be downloaded to your computer. If you are at work and connected to the company LAN then this will be a very quick process. If, however, you are on a dial-up connection then this may take some time - approximately 10 minutes on a 56k connection or even longer if you have a slower modem (this would be a good time to make a pot of tea).

At the completion of the download phase Windows may prompt you with one or two security warnings. Just click the OK or Yes buttons to continue with the installation process. If you find Windows refuses to start the install process (for security reasons) then just start the download process again, this time clicking on the Savebutton and saving the file to your Windows desktop. Once downloaded, double-click on the file to run the installer.

If you find Windows still refuses to install the application then your computer needs some advanced settings changed. clear.net cannot help at this level so please seek advice from your LAN administrator or consult a qualified computer technician.

  4. To continue, just click the Next button.

You will see a couple of InstallShield Wizarddialogue boxes for extracting and preparation. Wait for these processes to finish and eventually you will be left on the iPassConnect Setup welcome screen.

  5. You will be presented with the End User License Agreement for the iPass Software and Services. You must agree to the terms and conditions to continue using the software. Carefully read through the information and click the check box near the bottom left corner of the screen, then the Yes button when ready to proceed.

  6. You will be on the Choose Destination Location screen. The default destination folder (C:\Program Files\iPass\iPassConnect) should be fine, but you are welcome to change it if preferred. Click the Nextbutton to continue.

  7. Please wait while the required files are copied to your computer.

  8. Ensure there is a tick in the Launch iPassConnecttick-box and then click the Finishbutton to close the wizard and launch the iPassConnect client.

  9. The next screen is just a quick informational splash from the iPassConnect team. Take note of any information that may be relevant to you and then click the OK button to continue to the iPassConnect default screen. At this stage you are ready to configure iPassConnect and get connected. For further help configuring and operating iPassConnect, please refer back to the iPassConnect technical assistance index. Click here to go back there now.

In future, you can start iPassConnect at any time by double-clicking the iPassConnect icon you will now find on your Windows desktop.
