Getting Set Up
- Go to the Self Service page on the TelstraClear Web Site. Enter your TelstraClear account number and password. This is your TelstraClear password NOT your Clear.net.nz password. You will find your TelstraClear account number on your monthly TelstraClear account.
You will need to have a Domain name registered to use Professional Webhosting. If you do not have one, you will need to request one through our Domain name registration page.
- Click the 'Professional Web Hosting' icon.
Click on the 'Create new web site' button.
Read the terms and conditions carefully. Also note the pricing information is displayed on this page.
-Either-
To continue, click the 'Accept Conditions' button. The 'Create new Web Site' page will be displayed. Go to step 5.
-Or-
If you do not agree with the terms and conditions and you wish to cancel your Web Site setup, click the 'Cancel' button. You will be returned to the 'Professional Web Hosting - Main Menu' page.
- If your domain name is already hosted with clear.net, it should appear in the list labelled 'Select domain name'.
In the 'Select Domain Name' list click on your domain name. The domain name is how Internet users will access your site. For example, if we choose our 'www.shoerax.co.nz' domain, users will access it by typing www.shoerax.co.nz in their web browser.
If the domain name you want to use does not appear in the list, type in the domain name in the box labelled 'Or enter a new one'.
Note: Entering a domain name that does not exist in the 'Or enter a new one' box will not create or register the domain name. We will check the validity of all domain names entered and will contact you if a new domain name needs to be registered. There is no guarantee that the new name you enter will be available until it has been registered.
Enter a site-id in the box labelled 'Site-id'. This can be any name with a length of between 2 and 20 characters and can be made up of numbers and letters. This name is only used for internally identifying your web site. Internet users will not see this site-id.
Once you have done this, click on the 'Next' button. The 'Set up Webmasters' page will load.
- Note: You do not have to assign a Webmaster at this point, however, you will not be able to upload any web pages to your web site until a Webmaster has been assigned.
A Webmaster is someone that you allow to change the content of your web site and/or view access reports for your site. This may be yourself, a member of your staff or possibly somebody from the Web design company you may have used to design your web site. You choose who your Webmasters are on the 'Set up Webmasters' page.
Assign your Webmaster(s) by entering their clear.net user-id in the boxes labelled 'User-id'. Choose whether your Webmaster can perform FTP uploads (necessary to update your Web Site content) and whether they can view your web site's access reports by clicking in the corresponding check box. A tick in the checkbox indicates they can perform that function.
If you want your Webmaster to be able to change your web site's content, you must tick 'FTP upload'. If you only want your Webmaster to be able to view your web sites access reports, only tick the 'View reports' box. If you want your Webmaster to be able to do both, tick both boxes.
Once you have entered all your Webmasters and chosen if they can upload and view reports, click on the 'Next' button. The 'FrontPage Support' page will load.
