Access Control with FrontPage
Access control for FrontPage web sites is controlled from the FrontPage Explorer. The one user-id and password that is set separately is the FrontPage Administrator user-id and password.
This is entered when you set up a new FrontPage web site or you convert an existing TelstraClear Professional web site to a FrontPage web. It is important to make a note of this FrontPage Administrator user-id and password as it is required to access your web site and set the access permissions for other users.
If you forget your Administrator password you will need to disable and then re-enable FrontPage support on your web site. Before doing this you should make a back up of all your web content to your computer.
If you have forgotten your FrontPage Administrator username and password, these are the steps to follow:

Setting access permissions with FrontPage
- Dial up and connect to Clearnet.
- Once you are connected, launch the Microsoft FrontPage Explorer.
- From the 'File' menu of the FrontPage Explorer, select 'Open FrontPage Web...'.
A dialogue box will open prompting you for the name of the web to open (the exact dialogue box you see depends on the version of FrontPage you are using, check your documentation if you are unsure).
Enter your web site name which will be something like 'www.shoerax.co.nz'. Obviously, replace the shoerax with your domain name.
Once you have entered your web site name and clicked 'OK', there will be a brief pause while FrontPage connects to your web site.
- With your web site loaded in the FrontPage Explorer, click on the 'Tools' menu and then 'Permissions'.
From the 'Permissions' dialogue you can restrict who has access to your FrontPage web site.
Check the FrontPage documentation for details about setting permissions.
Resetting your FrontPage Administrator Password
The FrontPage Administrator user-id and password is set up when your FrontPage web site is first created, or when an existing web site is converted to a FrontPage web.If you forget your Administrator password you will need to disable and then re-enable FrontPage support on your web site. Before doing this you should make a back up of all your web content to your computer.
If you have forgotten your FrontPage Administrator username and password, these are the steps to follow:
- Go to the Self Service page on the TelstraClear Web Site. Enter your TelstraClear account number and password. This is your TelstraClear password NOT your Clear.net.nz password. You will find your TelstraClear account number on your monthly TelstraClear account.
You will need to have a Domain name registered to use Professional Webhosting. If you do not have one, you will need to request one through our Domain name registration page.
- Click the 'Professional Web Hosting' icon.
From the list box near the bottom of the page, select your web site by clicking once on your web site name.
Click the 'FrontPage Support' button.
The 'FrontPage Support' page will load. Click the button labelled 'Disable FrontPage Support'.
You will be returned to the Web Hosting 'Main Menu' page.
- Check your web site is still selected in the list box and then click the 'FrontPage Support' button again.
The 'FrontPage Support' page will load. Click the button labelled 'Enable FrontPage Support'.
The second 'FrontPage Support' page will load. This is the page where you re-enter your FrontPage Administrator Username and Password. These are case sensitive and the password must be at least 6 characters long. Make a note of the Username and Password once you have re-entered them.
Note: This change will not take effect immediately. The new FrontPage Administrator Username and Password will take effect within the next hour.
Click the 'Enable FrontPage Support' button.
You will be returned to the Web Hosting 'Main Menu' page.
