If you have already got a GSM/3G mobile handset you absolutely love you don’t have to change anything. We will send you a new TelstraClear SIM card and your monthly access fee will be just $20 per month on a 12 month term.

When you call to switch your existing handset to TelstraClear we will ask you the make and model number. There will be some new data settings that need to be sent to your phone, but we will send you information about these with your SIM pack.

Can I use an XT handset?

Yes you can, but please be aware that when you go outside of "3G Broadband" areas, which are mainly outside the main metro areas in NZ, your handset will only connect to the 2G network as your handset runs on different frequencies. This will only effect mobile data/internet usage though. You will still be able to make calls and send texts as normal.

Can I use a CDMA handset?

No. Unfortunately CDMA handsets are not compatible with the GSM network. Please talk to our team about a new GSM/3G handset.
