Allan Freeth, Chief Executive Officer
Allan Freeth joined TelstraClear as its Chief Executive Officer in 2005.
Before this, he held senior executive positions at Trust Bank, was Chief Executive and Managing Director of Wrightson, and served as a member of the TelstraClear Advisory Committee.
He gained his Philosophy Doctorate in Population Genetics through the Australian National University in Canberra, and holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Canterbury University, and an MBA with Distinction.
He is presently a Director on the Boards of Save the Children, and Film New Zealand; is a Member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum on the Next Generation, and a Trustee of Crimestoppers New Zealand.
His past directorships include Genesis Research and Development, GNS: Geological and Nuclear Sciences, and the New Zealand Treasury Advisory Board. He has served as Chairman of Save the Children New Zealand, Chairman of Queen Margaret College, a leading independent school for girls in Wellington, and Trustee of the Massey Agricultural Research Fund.
He is a regular speaker on governance for the not-for-profit sector.
Alex Ball, Chief Financial Officer
Alex Ball has overall responsibility for all financial planning, reporting and commercial analysis at TelstraClear, as well as property and facilities management.
Before joining TelstraClear, Alex was Chief Financial Officer at Vector Limited for three years, and an audit partner in Ernst & Young New Zealand, where he also led its national financial services practice. He has also worked in professional services in Australia, Singapore and the UK.
He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree, is a Chartered Accountant, and an experienced company director.
John Bone, Head of Strategy
John has overall responsibility for TelstraClear's response to the Government's Ultra-Fast Broadband initiative. He also leads our Wholesale team. This team engages with third-party network providers who could potentially work with TelstraClear to deliver services to customers.
John previously headed up TelstraClear's Customer Experience division, mobile services and Alternate Networks unit, and was joint Head of Enterprise and Government when ICT subsidiary Sytec merged with TelstraClear in April, 2007.
Andrew Crabb, Head of Business and Government
Andrew Crabb is Head of TelstraClear’s Business and Government division. The unit services the unique needs of small and medium-sized enterprises through to corporate New Zealand, Government departments and trans-Tasman businesses.
Andrew has formerly held roles as TelstraClear’s Chief Information Officer - delivering technology solutions to both the internal business and also for new products and services - and Head of Networks and Services. He has significant experience in IT and Network operations.
Steve Jackson, Head of Consumer Sales, Marketing and Products
Steve is responsible for maximising the profitability of TelstraClear's residential and home and small office customer segments, our product development, marketing and the customer experience.
Before joining CLEAR in 1998, Steve worked for Bell Canada in the UK as General Manager, responsible for building and marketing a cable TV and telephony network. Steve is a UK Chartered Accountant and has held financial and management roles in a wide range of service industries.
Liesbeth Koomen, Head of Government Affairs, Regulatory and Ultrafast Broadband
Liesbeth is responsible for TelstraClear's regulatory matters and government affairs. She also leads the company's strategy and commercial arrangements in relation to the Government’s UFB initiative. Prior to this role, Liesbeth spent six years at the Commerce Commission where she was responsible for legal enforcement in the areas of competition, consumer credit and fair trading. In the 10 years before that, she gained extensive experience in telecommunications through private practice in Amsterdam and London and at British Telecommunications plc.
Her most recent position at BT was Vice-President, Regional Counsel. In that role she led a cross-border team responsible for regulatory and legal actions to improve access conditions to incumbent networks in most EU countries. Liesbeth is legally qualified in the Netherlands, England and Wales and New Zealand.
Oonagh McEldowney, General Counsel and Company Secretary
Oonagh joined TelstraClear in 2010 and has overall responsibility for the provision of legal services to the Company and advising TelstraClear's Board, CEO and senior management.
Oonagh is a corporate and commercial lawyer with extensive international experience. Before joining TelstraClear, she held a number of senior legal positions within Telstra, including Acting General Counsel with its Enterprise & Government business, based in Sydeny. Prior to this, Oonagh practised law with leading international firms in both the UK and Australia, and has worked as General Counsel & Director of Regulatory Affairs with REACH, based in Hong Kong.
Carol McNaught, Chief of Staff and Human Resources
Carol leads TelstraClear's Human Resources functions and is also Chief of Staff. Before joining TelstraClear, Carol worked as Relationship Manager for an enterprise software integrator, managing services and staff across multiple Asia / Pacific sites, and in various consulting roles.
She has extensive experience working for the New Zealand Police in a variety of roles including Human Resources and Staff Welfare functions.
Maggie Robertson, Head of Customer Services
Maggie oversees customer service and support for all market segments. She has held a number of senior leadership positions within TelstraClear, including Chief of Corporate Services, and Head of Customer Experience and Human Resources. Maggie draws on her years of experience in operating at a senior level in our organisation. Her work has encompassed consultancy, strategic projects deployment, acting as senior management executive coach and General Manager. Maggie's previous experience includes six years with Xerox in the UK, seven as a consultant with KPMG and Price Waterhouse, six years with Carter Holt Harvey and four years at Wrightson.
Diane Robinson, Head of TelstraClear Communications
Diane is charged with developing and maintaining an integrated communications strategy that drives positive perception of the TelstraClear brand, via external and internal communication channels.
A former journalist, Diane has held key roles on major daily newspapers and magazines in London, Cape Town, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand. Most recently, she has held senior communications roles across the Government, NGO, and corporate sectors in Wellington.
Brenda Stonestreet, Head of Operations
Brenda leads the development and execution of strategy for IT and Projects and is also responsible for the operation, maintenance and investment in TelstraClear's network and services. This draws on her years of experience that includes work in R&D, telecommunications managed services, project implementation and change management.
Brenda has held several roles in TelstraClear as Head of Contact Centres, Head of Development, and Head of Small-and-Medium-Enterprise Business.
