TelstraClear's Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
At TelstraClear, our commitment to corporate responsibility begins with a simple and straight-forward commitment to principled decision-making, in all that we do.
From a principled perspective, our primary corporate responsibilities are to:
- serve the needs of our customers,
- provide TelstraClear staff with a dynamic and stimulating work environment;
- increase shareholder value and protect shareholder interests,
- provide good stewardship of the environment - first and foremost by conservation (i.e., by increasing efficiency in the way we use resources), reducing operating costs, and minimising our environmental footprint,
- contribute resources - people, technology, products and services - to support the communities in which we operate and the needs of the larger society
Starship Mobile Phone Recycling Appeal
TelstraClear has partnered with the Starship Foundation to help turn your old mobile phones into essential services and equipment for Starship kids. Services include the Starship national air ambulance service which rushes top medical experts to life-threatening emergencies around the country. These specialists stabilise the children and allow them to be brought safely to Starship where they can receive the care they need.
Phones collected by Starship are refurbished and on-sold to developing countries that need affordable technology. Once the phones are donated, they are recorded, graded and stored before being sent to places such as Hong Kong, China or Eastern Europe where they are checked, reprogrammed, repackaged and sold. The small percentage that is beyond repair is recycled in line with environmental best practice.
In July 2010, TelstraClear was one of the winners of the Prime Minister’s Supreme Award for the Starship Mobile Phone Appeal, at the Robin Hood Foundation’s Social Heroes Awards for corporate-community partnerships.
It's easy to recycle your old mobile phone. You can post it free of charge to:
