Spam and Virus Protection is provided FREE for the mailbox of all TelstraClear internet customers.

TelstraClear’s two-layer spam and virus defence is very accurate. In partnership with Symantec and Ironport, TelstraClear uses world class and award-winning technology to give added protection from the influx of spam and viruses impacting your computer. These are the same solutions that protect the email systems of a number of the world's largest internet service providers. 

Recommended if you want:

	Accurate and effective spam and virus filtering protection
	To reduce the hassle of going through and deleting unsolicited or unwanted email
	To protect your computer from viruses contained in email

Note: TelstraClear strongly recommends that you have your own internet security software installed on your computer and you keep it updated.

All TelstraClear internet customers have Spam and Virus Protection for their mailbox(es) FREE of charge.

Other things you need to know about Spam & Virus Protection:

• Spam and Virus Protection is only available in relation to email collected from your TelstraClear mailbox. If there is a forwarding rule on your TelstraClear mailbox, mail directed to that mailbox may not be filtered.
• Spam may not be detected by our spam protection service for a number of reasons. We do not guarantee or represent that our spam protection service will:
• detect all spam received by your mailbox; or
• not classify valid email that you receive as spam, although we will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that this is not the case.
• Spam detected by our spam protection service will be filed in a separate folder ("Spam Folder") in your mailbox, which can be viewed at webmail.co.nz
• We will delete all email that has been in your Spam Folder for longer than 3 days automatically and we accept no liability for any loss or damage that you may suffer as a result of such deletion. Accordingly we strongly recommend that you regularly check your Spam Folder
• TelstraClear virus protection will only intercept email based viruses. Viruses can also be received from browsing the internet, transferring files, or from CD’s or floppy disk etc.
• Virus protection is designed to detect only known and detectable viruses. A virus transmitted by email may not be detected by our virus protection service for a number of reasons including the fact that the virus is very new and we have not received identification of that virus. Accordingly we do not guarantee or represent that our virus protection service will detect and/or remove all viruses
• You acknowledge that you may experience a delay in receiving email while it is processed by our virus protection service

To further protect yourself against viewing unsolicited email we strongly recommend that you treat with caution any email that you receive from a sender that is unknown to you.
